ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
•The endocrine system : is responsible for chemical coordination and regulates activities that take place inside the body
HYPOTHALAMUS
•Secretes hormone : ADH
•Function : Controls the Concentration of water in the blood.
THYROID GLAND
•Secretes hormone : Thyroxin
Function : Controls basal metabolic rate
ADRENAL GLAND
•Secretes hormone : Adrenalin
•increases : heartbeat , blood pressure & skeletal muscle tone
•Decreases : blood flow to the digestive system and skin
ALDOSTERONE
•Function : Regulates salt concentration In the blood.
PITUITARY GLAND
(hypophysis)
•Secretes hormone :
GH (growth hormone) ,TSH(thyroid stimulating hormone)
Function : Controls growth
🧠TSH(stimulates thyroid gland to secrete Thyroxin)
Reproductive hormones :
•FSH : stimulates the development of follicle in the ovaries
•FH : Stimulates ovulation
•Prolactin : Stimulates the mammary glands to secrete milk
PANCREAS :
Also Called islets of langerhans
Secrets hormone : Glucagon : Stimulates conversion of glycogen to glucose
•Secrets hormone : Insulin : stimulates the conversion of glucose to glycogen
TESTES
•Secrets hormone : Testosterone
Functions :
•Stimulates puberty in males
•Stimulates the maturation of sperm cells
OVARIES
1) Harmones Secretion:
Oestrogen & Progesterone
•Function : oestrogen : Stimulates puberty in females
•Functions : Progesterone : Maintains pregnancy
THE PROCESS OF TEMPERATURE REGULATION
•Temperature regulation as control of the body as close to 37 degrees Celsius as possible to enable the body to function normally
Vasodilation :
On a hot day : 🏜
•the hypothalamus is stimulated
•more sweat is released
•sweat glands becomes more active
•blood vessels dilate it means that they become 'wider'
•more blood flows into the skin
Vasoconstriction :
on a cold day : ☃️
•the hypothalamus is stimulated
•less sweat is released
•Sweat glands becomes less active
•Blood vessels constrict it means that they become 'narrower'
•less blood flows into the skin
So nice
